FireMaker Burns up the Miles

ROYAL OAK, Mich. (July 2007) -- FireMaker, the 1956 Cadillac Lead Spectacular by Pfaff Designs, has hit the road for a few early summer tour dates across the Midwest. First on the schedule were a couple of towns with HOT ROD Magazine's Power Tour. In Cleveland the land yacht was anchored at the Peak/Herculiner booth right next to the Pfaff-designed Thundertruck. More than 300 FireMaker posters were given out, with over 500 hero cards as well.

Parked just down the row was Detroit Speed, featuring Optima Batteries, with couple more Pfaff designs. The Full Ride Chevelle looked right at home next to one of the race-ready Z06 Corvettes that was created for last fall's SEMA show.

From Ohio up it was smooth sailing to the western side of Michigan, and I mean sailing – given the torrential downpours that greeted everyone's arrival into the Great Lakes State. Once in Kalamazoo, FireMaker gave the HOT ROD TV crew a little "fire show" with a follow-up interview.

The next weekend brought a trip to Indianapolis, and the spectacular Goodguys "Hot Rod Nationals." The show was great, the racing was intense, and the parties were outrageous! First up was a get-together at Jim Linder's shop, located along the famous Gasoline Alley. On top of eating fried Spam, Moon Pies and drinking Coke out of glass bottles, the highlight was that FireMaker drove away with the "Bubba's Pick" and the "Indy Hi-Winder's Pick" – what an honor! Saturday night was a burnout fest at Culbertson's Customs and Hot Rods. Tom Culbertson is a genuine refugee of the '50s who is making his mark in the new millennium. He has been building cool cars for more than 40 years, and his shop is the real deal!

Turning to the highly polished-and-smoothed end of cars, Pro Rides had brought out a couple of Pfaff-inspired customs. Their '37 roadster known as the "Brown Hornet" garnered a pick from Troy Trepanier. Meanwhile, everyone was mesmerized with the massive 20's and 22's on Gerry Kerna's new Willys Coupe, not to mention the impeccable the fit and finish. Nice work!

In other FireMaker news, the folks at www.mycadillacstory.com have posted four videos shot last fall on YouTube. Come to find out, the suits at GM and their lawyers had some reservations about showing the world FireMaker's flamethrowers. In the end they wrote a disclaimer for the beginning of each short... You can find all four clips at: http://www.youtube.com/ (Just make sure to watch the last video, titled "Holy Cow" - it's rather humorous, I must admit!)
